HI Events & Services - Men's Tune Up
Early detection is the key to fighting prostate cancer. That's why the Cancer Center at Heartland Regional Medical Center started the Men's Tune Up campaign: to get men more involved in their health, especially for preventive screenings.
Typically, women are the health-care decision makers in the family, but this campaign gives men a convenient way to be proactive about their health. By attending a Men's Tune-up, participants are taking an important first step in the fight against prostate cancer. According to the Prostate Cancer Education Council (PCEC), more than 230,000 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008.
The Men's Tune Up is in the autumn each year and includes a free prostate screening at these sites: the Cancer Center at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Heartland Clinic of Platte City and, new in 2008, The Social Welfare Board.
