Well-Child Visits
You know that your children need to see the doctor when they are sick. But they also need to see the doctor when they are feeling fine. These are called "well-child visits" and they are important for keeping your kids healthy.
What Happens at Well-Child Visits?
A well-child visit lets the doctor check your child for health problems before they get serious. Here are some things the doctor should do:
- Check your child's growth.
- Test your child's blood for lead poisoning.
- Test your child's vision and hearing.
- Talk to you about health issues, such as nutrition, exercise, and safety.
- Answer any questions you have about your child's health, growth, or behavior.
At this visit, the doctor should also give your child any needed shots. Babies and older children need a series of shots to protect them from serious diseases. Ask the doctor if your child's shots are up-to-date.
And don't forget to take care of your child's teeth. Children need to have regular dental checkups and cleanings to keep their smiles bright and healthy.
